Asian Pacific Community in Action provided free shingles vaccines to uninsured community members at their new offices in Central Phoenix on Saturday, 1 August 2015. Shingles infections are caused by a virus and results in very a painful rash and blisters. People over 50 are especially at risk. In total 73 community members received shingles vaccinations, two dozen also received free hepatitis A and B virus vaccinations. Vaccines were provided by Maricopa County Public Health. APCA staff and medical interpreters provided in-language care in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Hindi, Gujarati, and Korean.
