”From STARTALK to Flagship: ASU Chinese Language Camp” offers a 15-day intensive residential program for current 8-12th grade students in Arizona to increase their motivation and proficiency level in Chinese through a highly structured theme -based curriculum. During the 15- day program held at the ASU Tempe campus, students will receive intensive Chinese language instruction and participate in fun cultural activities. Language instruction will be delivered through group lessons, individual instruction, and peer mentoring. For cultural activities, students will have hand-on activities to learn traditional Chinese arts, crafts, calligraphy, cooking, and some martial arts. We hope that through this summer camp, high school students will see the value and fun of learning and exploring the language and culture beyond a structured classroom setting and eventually become life-long learners of Chinese language. Prospective applicants must submit their application materials on the application checklist postmarked by Saturday, April 4, 2015. In addition, they must also email an electronic PDF version of their Application Form to chinesestartalk@asu.edu by the same date. Qualified applicants with Chinese language background may be contacted to schedule a phone interview. Successful applicants will be notified via email by the end of April 2015.
